Mazda Lighting Accessories

The technology for LEDs or light emitting diodes has actually been around for more than a century. But thanks to recent breakthroughs in technology, they have become the most quite popular for all types of applications, especially in the automotive industry. Mazda LEDs include headlights, taillights, license plate, interior and a host of other applications as well. The LEDs produce clean, bright light at a fraction of the electricity needed for traditional incandescent bulbs. LEDs keep your vehicle’s electrical system from being overly taxed when running multiple electronic units, such as the air conditioning, stereo and the like.?? In addition, LED headlights produce much less glare which means that oncoming vehicles are not blinded by the headlights.?? For more information about LED lights for your Mazda, please visit our online catalog that features a number of high quality LED lights. About Mazda the Motor Company

The Mazda Motor Corporation, better known simply as Mazda, is the fifteenth largest automaker in the world and enjoys a stellar reputation for making high quality vehicles. Headquartered in Hiroshima, Japan, Mazda produces an average of just over 1 million vehicles each year. The name “Mazda” comes from the ancient myths of Western Asia. Ahura Mazda was the god of wisdom, harmony and intelligence. In addition, the name is also derived from the founder of Mazda, Jujiro Matsuda. Today, the company that Matsuda founded is one of the most respected in the auto industry. Interestingly enough, Mazda began in 1920 as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Company, Ltd. It was a company that created machine tools for roughly seven years until they shortened their name and switched to manufacturing automobiles. In 1931, Toyo Kogyo introduced the Mazda-Go, a unique combination of motorcycle and open wagon that ran on three wheels and certainly was unique.

The Second World War interrupted the manufacturing of vehicles as the company switched to creating rifles, such as the vaunted Type 99. After the war, the company formally embraced the “Mazda” name, although the name change wasn’t official for the company in 1984, and switched back to manufacturing vehicles. For the next dozen years or so, Mazda plugged along creating different types of vehicles that made little impression outside of Japan. In 1960, the Mazda R360 was introduced to the public and enjoyed some success. In order to broaden out its manufacturing capacity, Mazda started creating engines for their automobiles in 1962. The emphasis Mazda placed on engines was in part due to embracing the Wankel rotary design. This effort was meant as a way of distinguishing the company from its competitors with the result being the release of the Cosmo Sport vehicle in 1967 that sported the Wankel engine. As of today, no other automotive company uses a Wankel-type rotary engine in their vehicles.

Although the Wankel engine itself was not a great leap forward in terms of technical design, the attention that Mazda gained helped sell its vehicles overseas. Using both the Wankel and piston-powered engines, Mazda began expanding its reach around the world. Two advantages of the Wankel rotary engines were their power and lightweight design which made Mazda vehicles attractive to consumers looking for with plenty of power. The RX series helped lead Mazda into the US and European markets. The formal entry into the American marketplace began in 1970, although Mazda vehicles had been seen in the US and Canada for well over a decade before. This more formal entry into the American market allowed Mazda to expand their line of vehicles, including the famed Mazda Rotary Pickup which turned out to be quite successful. ??The 1973 Oil Crisis presented a big problem for Mazda as their Wankel rotary engines were gas guzzling compared to their piston counterparts. Nearly bankrupt, Mazda focuses on their more fuel efficient compact vehicles such as the Familia and Capella series which managed to get the company through these tough times.

However, the rotary engine was helpful for the sport models that were popular with Mazda vehicles. The RX-7 and upgraded RX-8 helped get the company into the 1980s with good, but not spectacular sales. The real breakthrough happened in 1989 when Mazda went back to the piston engine for their lightweight roadster, the Miata. The Miata was a tremendous success and elevated the company back into prominence. The Miata helped forge the successful run of Mazda vehicles into the 1990s when the Navajo, MX-6 and MX-3 became popular as well. Currently, Mazda is enjoying great success with a number of their vehicle designs. Their compact SUV, the Tribute is doing quite well against heavy competition and the CX-7 crossover has also enjoyed a remarkable run. Add to this the line of sedan in the form of the Mazda 3 and 6 series which have created a strong niche in the buying public.

All of these vehicles have shown the versatility of Mazda and their ability to create durable, powerful and popular cars, SUVs, crossovers and pickup trucks that appeal to a wide range of consumers. From the RX series through the Miata and today with the line of popular sedans, Mazda has stood for quality, style and performance that cannot be matched. Incorporating technical advances into their latest lines of vehicles has only enhanced the reputation of Mazda and their outlook for the future. Of the many advances that Mazda has embraced over the years, LED lights are one of the most interesting and practical.
